60 Years On, A West Coast Pioneer Raises the Standard Again
In 1965, the newly opened Omni La Costa Resort & Spa broke ground with its holistic approach to wellness, adopting a mind-body experience that would serve as the model for nearly every West Coast spa to come. Now, with the completion of a three-year, multi-million-dollar renovation, Omni La Costa reminds us why it was and still is the “original destination for mind, body and sport.”
Set on 400 acres along Southern California’s coast, about 30 miles north of San Diego, Omni La Costa Resort offers guests an upscale mind-body experience against a backdrop of iconic Spanish Mission-style architecture, open courtyards, bright pink bougainvillea, and green lawns and golf courses. The first to be renovated was Omni La Costa’s Champions Course. Since renamed the North Course, it’s been extended to 7,500 yards and fully redesigned by noted architect Gil Hanse. NEW VENUES OFFER GREATER INDOOR/OUTDOOR FLEXIBILTY
Following the North Course, Omni La Costa turned its attention toward updating and expanding it meeting spaces, including a top-to-bottom refresh of its Coastal Events Center and completion of the new Costa De Luna Ballroom and event lawn, Range View Court and Lawns. With these latest additions, the resort can claim to own the largest resort meetings footprint in Southern California with over 70,000 SF indoor and 100,000 SF outdoor space.
Costa De Luna beautifully integrates with the existing buildings, providing 14,000 SF of ballroom space, 4,000 SF of pre-function space, two breakout rooms, an expansive, 30,000 SF event lawn and a dedicated valet entrance. Wide doors open directly onto the green lawn, making the move from indoor to outdoor events a seamless one.
Additional outdoor options include several lawns, private terraces, and courtyards, like the Main Plaza — a popular venue for receptions and early-morning networking sessions — that can be configured to host more than 1,000 attendees comfortably.
